What is an Extraction?
Tooth extraction, or dental extractions, refer to the removal of one or more teeth. At Polaris Family Dental, we do everything possible to help all of our patients keep their natural teeth for as long as possible. With root canals, crowns, and fillings, we restore the function and health of decaying or damaged teeth without extraction everyday. However, if a tooth is damaged from trauma, cracked, or has too much decay, the tooth needs to be removed. When this is the case, we offer dental extractions.
How are Dental Extractions Performed?
We offer two kinds of dental extractions at our office. The most common kind of dental extraction is performed on teeth you can see, called a “simple extraction.” For teeth below the gum line, due to breaking off or being impacted, a “surgical extraction” is required. We perform both procedures regularly and ensure each and every patient is as comfortable as possible. We will determine your unique treatment plan for tooth removal at your consultation. We will also discuss with you your options for restoration and tooth replacement, so you can be as comfortable as possible following tooth removal.
